The reduction in demand for jobs by companies continues as we weather the Covid-19 storm. This past week LinkedIn announced that they would be shedding about 960 jobs worldwide as fewer companies are recruiting.
Closer to home, a survey conducted by the National Income Dynamics Study- Coronavirus Rapid Mobile Survey (Nids-Cram) found that 3 million people lost their jobs between February 2020 and April 2020. Two million of the people who lost their jobs were women. Their findings also showed that the job losses are impacting the already vulnerable and disadvantaged population group. That said, there are still people from all walks of life and various professions who have also had to bear the brunt of losing their jobs as a result of the pandemic. Although there does not seem to be an end in sight, things will get better. One thing for sure, our lives are forever changed.
