The jobs guillotine continued to come down this past week with #Shell announcing that it will be #cuttingmorejobs. Although they have not finalized the exact numbers yet, the process has started with voluntary severance packages.
We see more and more companies streamlining their processes to improve their efficiencies and becoming leaner to increase profitability. This is also in line with the impending digitalization and automation that is on our doorsteps. What is encouraging however is that some of these companies that are cutting jobs are also creating new ones through restructuring their processes in preparation for the #fourthindustrialrevolution. Although the replacement ratio of the jobs lost may not be one to one, the silver lining is that there are still new opportunities that lie ahead.
As we see the #Covid19 cases and death toll rate continue to climb at alarming rates, companies are weathering this storm by looking at ways to survive post this pandemic. As we all know, employees are among the first casualties. When the dust settles, many companies will have made it through and others will not be as lucky. As hard as it may seem right now, as individuals and organizations we have to prepare for when this storm passes in the same way that the #Spanishflu storm passed. We have to prepare ourselves for that moment. What are you doing to prepare yourself for when the storm has passed?
