Celebrating Women!




This Women’s Month, I would like to take a moment and celebrate all the beautiful, amazing, talented and phenomenal women out there who have faced so many challenges and yet have remained steadfast, resilient, and have come out stronger than ever! The changes and challenges brought on by Covid-19 have only emphasized what women do best and without even flinching. It has shown how women continue to juggle work, home, life, and in some cases studies and continue to excel. We know that the journey is long and arduous but it also has some gems and joys along the way.

While much has been accomplished much more still lies ahead. Top on this agenda is winning the fight against femicide. The senseless violence against women and children has to stop. We also note how far we have come as women in the workplace. A five-year study conducted by McKinsey & Company in 2019 has shown that there is progress made in terms of women representation in senior leadership roles in companies. The study reported that more and more companies are seeing the value of having women in leadership roles. However, women continue to be under-represented in these roles. The “glass ceiling” persists. They noted that the way to start fixing this under-representation is to start further down the line by developing women at junior levels and grooming them into management roles. Therefore, organizations that are serious about promoting gender equality and diversity in the workplace have to make a concerted effort by putting measures in place to drive an #equitableworkplace. They must invest in training, mentoring, and coaching programs that focus on developing women. This #WomensMonth, I hope organizations will continue to celebrate their women by recognizing their contributions and outstanding achievements and honor them.
