We all want a better life for ourselves and our families. However, what holds us back is fear. Essentially, we are holding ourselves back. We have these amazing great ideas of the life that we could live, but then fear steps in and we start talking ourselves out of our magical life. We start telling ourselves about all the things that can go wrong. Our saboteurs step in and take over the self- sabotaging conversation in our minds and then it is all downhill from there. This is all before we even share our grandiose ideas with anyone else. We have lost and failed before we even get started. That is hard to deal with. The truth is all the things we tell ourselves about what could go wrong are probably true but not to the exaggerated extent we have in our minds. The truth is success is not an easy climb to where you want to be, “living your best life” as the phrase goes. If it were, we would all be living the successful life we desire, whatever we deem that to be for ourselves.
To get to where you want to take your life takes a lot of hard work and sacrifices. However, the biggest starting point is in our minds. We must win the battle in our minds first and convince ourselves that we can achieve our dream life. Most importantly, we must know what we want. We need to be able to articulate it for ourselves. It does not have to be perfect, but it has to be able to give us a direction, a starting point. Otherwise, it is like getting in your car and taking a trip with no destination in mind. Before you know it, you have been driving for miles and your gas tank is low and you still do not know where you are nor where you are headed. That is when you feel stuck. You feel like you have wasted all this time that you cannot get back. That alone is enough to send anyone into a tailspin and in a downward spiral, especially if you feel like the clock is ticking and you are not getting any younger.
Well, the good news is you can achieve that life that you desire. But first, you must decide how much you want it. What are you willing to do to get it. You see, until you get to the point where you feel like you have had it and you are at your wits end, you are still not ready because then you will start and somewhere along the way the journey fizzles out. You forget why you embarked on this journey in the first place. Your “why” needs to be so compelling and so strong that when you start falling off the wagon and start losing your way, your “why” will get you back on track. It is still not going to be easy, but it will give you the motivation you need to stay focused. When you are at that point, that is when the investment in you comes in. You cannot do it on your own. You need to share your dream with your support system to help you in holding you accountable on your journey. This could be a family member or a friend that you trust. You can also seek the professional assistance of a Coach to guide and support you on your journey. The benefit of getting a Coach is that they can give you tools, techniques, and resources to help stay on track. They also provide a safe space that is non-judgemental but will challenge and motivate you to achieve the life you desire.
My questions to you are:
1. Are you living the life that you desire?
2. Are living up to your potential? If so, Congratulations! You fall in the 20% of the population.
3. If not, what are going to do to stop feeling stuck and not where you know you should be?
It is time for you to Step Out of Your Shadow and Step into Your Light!
