16 Days of Global Activism

This year is the 30th Anniversary of Global 16 Days of Activism of No Violence against Women and Children. The Campaign takes place annually from 25 November, which is the International Day of No Violence against Women to 10 December, which is the International Human Rights Day.

As the Campaign comes to an end tomorrow, this does not mean that the focus on Gender-Based Violence should come to an end. We need to be vigilant all year round and raise awareness on violence against women and children and ensure that they are always protected. We need to keep our radar on high alert by constantly scanning our environments to ensure that the safety and security of all women and children are protected.

As a starting point, we can do this by building strong and meaningful relationships with all the women and children in our lives so that should the time come when they need someone to confide in and reach out to for help, we will already be there.

Our workplaces need to create environments that are conducive for employees to be able to come forward and get the help they need when the need arises. Mental Health and Well-being have moved to the top of the agenda for many organizations and this must come with tools and resources that are available to all employees to help them get the help they need.

What is your organization doing to provide a safe, non-judgmental and conducive environment to make it easy for employees to feel supported and cared for when it comes to their Mental Health and Well-being as well as the threats and suffering that may come in the form of Gender-Based Violence?
